Ford Recalls 2024-2025 Broncos, 2024 Rangers Over Loose Control Arm Fasteners

The automaker is not currently aware of any crashes or injuries related to the faulty construction.

The Ford Motor Company has announced it is recalling a select number of 2024 Ranger pickup trucks and 2024–2025 Bronco SUVs due to an issue with the vehicles’ control arms that could increase the risk of an accident or injury.

According to the announcement from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the impacted vehicles feature a front upper control arm ball joint nut that may be improperly installed. This defect could potentially allow for the control arm to separate from the knuckle assembly, resulting in an inability to properly control the vehicle.

The recall filings state that the Blue Oval has determined that some 775 Ranger trucks were impacted by the fault, all of which were built between June 3 and September 4, 2024. A higher number of Broncos are impacted by the recall, with Ford stating that 1641 of the SUVs need to come back for inspection. The SUVs were also built during the same period, but it's important to note that the impacted vehicles are not in VIN sequence. Both vehicles are underpinned by the same T6 Platform, and are both produced at Ford's Michigan Assembly Plant.

Ford is not currently aware of any accidents or injuries related to the issue with this select number of trucks. Dealers will be tasked with inspecting the recalled trucks to ensure that the nut is tightened properly. If the fastener is loose or missing, Ford will replace the entire control arm and knuckle assembly as necessary. There will be no charge to owners related to the recall service.

Owners can head over to NHTSA’s website and use the Recall Search tool to determine if their VIN is impacted by the recall. Furthermore, they can reach out to Ford Customer Service at 1-866-436-7332; the internal reference number for this recall is listed as 24S64. The Blue Oval will send notice letters to affected vehicle owners starting on October 28.
