Burst hose causes chemical burns, spill at Auburn business

AUBURN (WGME) - The Auburn Fire Department responded to a hazardous materials incident on Thursday afternoon.

The City of Auburn posted on their Facebook page that the fire department was on scene of a hazardous materials incident atMS Ambrogio on Rodman Road.

The Auburn Fire Department says that a hose burst in the building, causing a spill of nitric acid, exposing two workers.

Those two workers were brought to the hospital but did not suffer serious injuries.

Both of those patients have since been treated and released from the hospital. No emergency personnel were injured during this incident.

A small fire from cardboard boxes also started near the spill area, but the fire was quickly extinguished.

The City of Auburn says the situation is contained and there is no threat to the public. The fire department says they cleared the scene at around 3 p.m.

The MS Ambrogio response team neutralized the spill and is now working on cleanup of the area.
